From time to time we are faced with difficult decisions in life. But when you know that the future brings great opportunities, these decisions are made just a bit easier.
The VIP and Loyalty teams just said goodbye to a great host and wonderful friend. Our girl Andrea is spreading her wings and taking on new challenges. She will start working on another of her passions, physical therapy.
Although she left and she will be missed we’ll be in touch and we’ll surely play some poker soon!
I know all of you will join me in wishing her the best of luck on her new ventures!
Last week, I tried my game at a competing poker site. I was intrigued by the large presence of pros with illuminated names, including my personal favorite player. It’s good to exercise your options every once in a while, so I gave it a shot.
I played for a few hours on a heads up table with a 6 handed ring game on the side. I was getting deep on the HU table when something interesting came about: On the six handed ring, I found myself with a pair of red jacks (same colour as my digital seat). Third to act, with one call in front, I raised the pot. Only the protective big blind called, and we were off!
All of my concerns about a “big blind special” suckout were gone once I saw the flop of Js-Jc-10c. The big blind bet into me with a solid pot size bet. I was obviously not folding. I called his bet. The turn brought a 7s, which made no difference to my cozy home called the nuts. This time, I decided to throw a little bet out. I made it a whopping 1/3 of the pot and was given an early birthday present when the big blind pushed his remaining 186$ into the mi-CALL! His cards flip and I am shown 8c9c. He is no doubt feeling silly about his massive overbet, but there is still one card to come. You know exactly what card it was because you’re reading this message on absolute’s bad beat blog. However, just for closure, the last card was a 7c, giving him his straight flush. I have never been as excited as I was in that moment, because although I had lost the pot (which is kind of annoying), I was the new founder of a bad beat jackpot!
I couldn’t wait to call my friends and tell them! I could finally buy the digital camera I had been eyeing for months; I could pay off my student loans; I could go on a nice trip, five star all the way; buy a new wardrobe; I was on top of the world! Oh wait…nevermind. Apparently, not all sites have a bad beat jackpot. So, instead of a hefty new lump sum of cash, I was the new founder of a bad beat suckout tale which cost me the same as a return flight to Vegas. And to think, if only I had been playing on ABSOLUTE, my life would have been changed forever.
I can now say, with absolute certainty, that poker is meant to be played on ABSOLUTEPOKER.COM.
Oh well…we all know envy is a bad feeling we should always avoid and never let it get into our lives…but OMG!!! Sometimes you just can’t go with the flow haha. UBOC4 is over now, but people from our Payments Dept will have to work extra hours these days to shoot all that money to all winners’ accounts.
I’m honestly impressed to see how successful this year’s UBOC4 was. All our tourneys did great and prizes went beyond expectations. What impresses me the most is to see how some players happened to cash out thousands at several events…I mean, I already consider you lucky enough when you cash at one regular event, but cashing at several UBOC tourneys…c’mon dudes! That’s a lot!
And when I say lucky, I don’t mean poker is a game based on luck, what I mean is that you guys are extremely lucky because you count on this amazing skill. You are strategists, and honestly, it’s thrilling to me how you put your thoughts and strategies on the table to take control and make the rest feel afraid of your presence. I’m 100% honest here; I’d just love someone to teach me how to do that great magic! I could use a couple of extra thousands weekly!
Anyway, I really wanted to thank you all for being part of this success! AbsolutePoker players along with UB players gave their best last week and made a 5 stars parade by showing skills and professionalism to the world. AbsolutePoker does count on really good professional poker players and the UBOC4 results are our best evidence. Thanks for playing, thanks for joining and most important, thanks for leading us to constant improvement. This is an open invitation for everyone to feel free to let us know about any feedback or comments you may come up with. Check our sites and get to meet this year’s winners. I promise you’ll find nothing but great and committed class A players.
Cheers! Enjoy your money!
Hope you guys are having a terrific time at our tables and nothing but money is filling up your AP accounts. I’m just gonna make a quick intervention through our blog to remind you about a couple of things that will definitely warm up your wallets during this cruel winter…
The UBOC4 is about to start and we want to see our multiple events as crowded as Times Square on a New Year’s eve! That’s why FAME has done its part by making several changes on our regular tourneys to practically push you in and make sure you’ll be requesting a juicy payout by the end of January.
Three main things I want to point out: currently our 45-Seat VIP tourney has been revamped for the season and is awarding 4 entries to our Million Dollar UBOC Championship even hosted by Phil Hellmuth on January 31st. Grab 10,000 AbsolutePoints and grant your success at the tourney.
Second, our brand new VIP Invitational has also been temporarily modified and now gives away 2 entries for our unique UBOC8 to be played on January 24th. Stack you Status Points and make sure you are in the exclusive list of this tournament winners.
Third and more important; we are aware that some of you guys wanna give a different use to your Step 10 tickets…so…no need to wait anymore! For a limited time, we are exchanging your Step 10 tickets for UBOC8 tickets!! Yes, it’s as easy as contacting your VIP Host and request an immediate exchange and you’ll be seated at the table soon than expected. Not a VIP player? No issues! Just make sure to email our Customer Support Dept. right away so you can have your exchange as well.
It’s time to play, people! And it’s time to play BIG. It’s officially a battle, except there are no injuries involved…only sweet cash!

Sometimes we have a customer on the phone or chat, always with different case or question; but at the end, he or she ends up being our friend, not just a customer. And this is what we really are, friends who help you out with anything you may need.
Being a VIP host is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had; we get to know our players in many different ways, sometimes we are that voice that listens to you when having a problem or just when you want to say hi. And you know what? We are proud of having this pleasure, the privilege of being that person at the other side of the line listening to you and making the best to resolve any inconvenience it may arise.
From now on I’ll dedicate every blog to one of our VIP hosts, to give you the opportunity of getting to know us better.
Today I’ll let you know a little bit more about myself, this way when you come to the chat or phone, you’ll know who you are talking to.
My name is Mary Jane but everybody calls me MJ; I’m 23 and have almost two years working for Absolute Poker. I work four days per week in the nightshift; I study Biology at the University of Costa Rica. I enjoy playing poker and having fun with my friends. I love going to concerts and making trips to the mountain. I hate when it’s raining and have to go out of my house. I like living in Costa Rica, the weather is perfect, and we have beautiful beaches and mountains!
I like my job, one of the best things here, besides the coworkers; it’s that you are in constant contact with people from around the world, and you get to learn a lot from them. I’ve talked with a lot of people here and usually they tell me different stories or situations they experienced, and believe me, you learn a lot!
Well my friends, I hope you enjoyed this blog, in my next one I’ll tell you more about a different member of our team!
Hope to see you at the tables and wish you the best luck!
Hello Ladies and Gentleman! It feels great to be the first Host from the FAME VIP Team to make an entry at our brand new blog! As you probably know, we are the friends you have at AP at the other side of the phone or the chat. I really hope that all of you keep up to date with everything related to our community, and why not sharing some bad beat stories from time to time?
I was watching the 2008 Series last night, and realized something that even though we talk about it almost everyday, I hadn´t paid enough attention to.
Soccer is the traditional and most popular sport where I live, and I have to say I´m not a big fan, but I´ve seen how many of my friends would really love to get an autograph, spend some time with their favorite players or what they can only dream about: play a soccer game against them. Seriously, many people would die for playing against the Brazilian or Argentinean soccer team, just to give you an example.
Fortunately, I´m a poker fan, yeah and sometimes I also question myself, why do we play this game? It´s cruel in occasions, I know
, but here´s part of the beauty of poker, you can play against the world´s best players, your idols; online or in a major event. If you make it to qualify to a Major Live Event, you are basically guaranteed to share with some of the best players in the World, and luckily play in their same table (luckily, unless they bust you!). Isn´t that just great? Anyone who makes it to qualify, let´s say to the WSOP Main Event or the coming soon Aruba Poker Classic, any person like you or me, will be playing against the best in the World, raising them, bluffing them, and rivering them if possible!
Hey Golf fans, have you ever played against Tiger? Nah I don´t think so!…at least most of you haven’t. When I think about it, it´s so thrilling, and I´m happy to play this game. I wish I can make it some day to be in a big one and meet my favorite pro´s.
Your chance is at AbsolutePoker, why don’t you give a try to our 45-Seat VIP tourneys? Our guys are waiting for you every Tuesday…Go ahead and check the link to review our pros’ appointments schedule:

Oh! Before I forget, remember that all of you are invited to share a little with us here in the blog, it is yours, so we expect to see entries from you as well! You guys can post using your username.
Take care and have a blast!
